Cam’s blog – It’s Vintage!
by Cameron Ashmead
Vintage is now in full swing in the Barossa. 2019 has not been the easiest of years in the Barossa with lower than average rainfalls a bit of frost in November and some wind at fruit set. Then we had a few heat spikes in January and February, but with all of that said Peter Wild and his team in the vineyards have done an incredible job in the vineyards to produce quality with the limited quantity that is out there. Richard Langford in the winery is now working his craft to produce the elegant, full bodied classics that he is known for.
Otherwise everything is good. The entire Ashmead family had a pre-vintage lunch, which I think the kids enjoyed more than the adults.
Jules and I went to an amazing wedding at Wylie’s Baths in Coogee that was powered by Elderton – thanks Danny and Evelin and again congratulations.
And Jules and I went to the Davis Cup in Adelaide, with our eldest, to see the young Aussies smash the Bosnians.
I can’t believe it is already March.
Cheers, Cam
