A Bit More About Us

A Bit More About Us

Elderton and Small Victories Wine Co are headed up by the second generation of the Ashmead family – Cam + Jules and Al + Bec.

Jules and Cam are parents to three boys, Angus, Wills and Louis. You’ll see Jules on local streets with her running group early in the morning, and you’ll spot Cam out on his bikes – both on the road and heading out to off-road trails.

Bec and Al are parents to three girls, Charlotte, Sophie and Annabel. Bec loves a five o’clock glass of bright, modern white wine (and occasional light to mid bodied red wines) with a bowl of potato chips and uses her mornings to be super active. And we love it when Bec has baked… seriously the best carrot cake you’ll ever eat. Al loves to cook and is a life-long Carlton fan so he continues to have high hopes for future seasons!

A bit more about us:

Allister Ashmead

Co-Managing Director

al@eldertonwines.com.au

Allister is responsible for the dual roles of marketing and production. He came back into the family business in early 2000, after university, working vintages abroad and working in the wholesale wine trade.

Allister was inducted as a Baron of the Barossa on 7 November 2009 – recognition of efforts and service for the region. He has previously sat on the board of Barossa Wine & Tourism, and also the BGWA (2011-2013). He was the chairperson of the Distinguished Wine Auction from 2008-2013 which raised circa $360k to help fund the Barossa Vintage Festival. In the past he also chaired the Barossa Winemakers’ Committee (2006-2009).

Allister was one of the first chosen in the inaugural Future Leaders Course conducted jointly by WFA and Wine Australia, and briefly sat on the Market Development Advisory Committee after completing the course.

Allister is passionate about his family, the Barossa Valley, travel, cooking and most codes of football.

Cameron Ashmead

Co-Managing Director

cameron@eldertonwines.com.au

After encouragement to go off and do something different, Cameron spent 11 years working for multi-national companies in far flung markets such as Sydney, London and Munich before he returned to the family fold in 2003.

Today Cameron spends much of his time on the road spreading the Elderton vision of excellence from vineyard to bottle from distinguished sites in the Barossa.

Like the entire Ashmead family, he is passionate about food and wine. Cameron is a proud Barossan and was inducted into the Barons of Barossa in 2017. He has served the local community by being on the board and Chairman of the Barossa Co-op (one of Australia’s largest co-operatives), chairing the Nuriootpa Regional Community Association and being a director on the Barossa Foundation. He attained his MBA from Adelaide University in 2012.

Family is very important to Cameron and in his spare time he likes to bike, play tennis and snowboard.

Jules Ashmead

Head of Production – Winemaking and Viticulture

Jules is our leading winemaker for Elderton and Small Victories Wine Co and has been overseeing both viticulture and winemaking at Elderton since July 2019. Wine is in her blood, as she comes from a family with five generations of winemakers and winemaking history in Rutherglen - Campbells Wines.

Jules has worked making wine on four continents around the world and has a great appreciation for different winemaking techniques and trying new things.
