2024 Small Victories Blended Fields

A small batch release blend of tempranillo, cinsault and shiraz. 

Younger plantings of cinsault and shiraz from Greenock and tempranillo from Mengler Hill were harvested on the same day and co-fermented in open concrete vats. Post pressing, the wine remained in barrel for malolactic fermentation and further maturation. With small volumes expected off these blocks, we really made this field blend decision based around sampling pre-harvest. The flavour profile in the tempranillo was spicy and structural and the cinsault added a lovely freshness and perfume.  The young vine shiraz completed the package.

We were super excited about the flavours showcased by the fruit from these young blocks. We interfered as little as possible, with our winemaking, to ensure a wine with a natural flavour profile which speaks of its origin.

Popping, just-ripe plummy fruit, laced with spice, leading into a lovely fragrant finish with the juicy tannin profile of the tempranillo tempered with the warmth of the small portion of shiraz to add a savoury touch.
