COMMAND SINGLE VINEYARD SHIRAZ
Our ultimate flagship wine, sourced exclusively from our 1894 Nuriootpa vines. It is celebrated worldwide for its subtle yet long tannin profile, profound depth, and lush flavors of spiced plum and wooded berries.
The second generation of Ashmead family, and Elderton Co-Managing Directors, Allister and Cameron, as the current custodians of a rare piece of Barossa Valley viticultural heritage, continue their parents’ aspirations and expectations to produce a great wine of the world. The Command is truly an expression of place, and one of which the family intends to preserve for generations to come.
ASHMEAD FAMILY RESERVE SHIRAZ
Elderton has a proud legacy of crafting exceptional Shiraz, with a deep-rooted commitment to quality. In outstanding vintages, we reserve a small parcel of wine for limited release under our prestigious Family Reserve label. Following the success of our second Family Reserve in 2021, we are pleased to present this release, sourced from a select block of our historic 1894-planted Shiraz vineyard in Nuriootpa. This particular section, located near the North Para River, consistently displays the classic characteristics of Barossa Valley Shiraz.
HELBIG 1915 SHIRAZ
Drawn from our revered 1915-planted Helbig vineyard, the Helbig Shiraz is a powerful yet poised expression of site and season. Widely regarded as exceptional across the Barossa, concentrated flavour and structure. In the glass, the wine shows remarkable intensity and vibrancy, underpinned by fine tannins and a strong acid line that points to long-term cellaring potential. Â Produced in extremely limited quantities, this is a profound, collectible release reserved exclusively for our most loyal supporters.
NEIL ASHMEAD GRAND TOURER SHIRAZ
First released from the 2008 vintage, the Grand Tourer Shiraz is a wine named after and produced in honour of Elderton co-founder, Neil Ashmead. Neil, who along with wife Lorraine, established Elderton and was a vital link in creating the Barossa’s currently enjoyed status as one of Australia’s most important viticultural areas. Infectious enthusiasm was one of Neil’s drivers in helping to pioneer the revitalisation of the region from the doom and gloom era of the late 1970s and early 80s.
SIXFOLD SHIRAZ
Planted in 1941 on the elevated slopes of Mengler Hill, this single vineyard Shiraz draws its strength from old vines rooted in ancient soils at 500 meters above sea level. From this rare vantage point, the vineyard gazes west over the Barossa Valley and east into Eden Valley. A site long revered by Barossa’s winemaking legends.
Acquired by the Ashmead family in late 2022, this extraordinary parcel now yields a wine of remarkable structure, richness, and balance.
BAROSSA SHIRAZ
Elderton was transformed from a vineyard supplying quality fruit to other wineries to a winery in its own right in 1982 and have since won much recognition for all of the wines, especially the Shiraz. Barossa Shiraz is now highly collectable worldwide, and the Elderton Estate Shiraz is always a benchmark for the region.
BULLET SHIRAZ
A carefully curated blend sourced from our four estate vineyard sites across the Barossa Valley: Nuriootpa, Greenock, Mengler Hill, and Eden Valley. This wine embodies the depth and diversity of the Barossa, showcasing a range of parcels that highlight the unique character of each sub-region. Each year, certain parcels display exceptional personality and quality. The Bullet is our opportunity to celebrate these standouts in a distinctive, limited release.
