Rain, Rain and more fantastic Rain
What a difference a year makes. In 2016 after a slow start, we have been inundated with rain and cold. The type of cold that bites through your clothes and into your skin unless you are sitting in front of a roaring fire with a glass of full bodied red. How good would that be right now for those of you who live in Australia?! The weather has made everyone here in the Barossa smile massively as we have had 3 drier than average seasons recently, so it is good to know that the weather gods are thinking good thoughts about us. Here is the Command vineyard jutting out of one of the many pea soup mornings we have had recently.
We also told Tom Cruise about how good the rains have been recently and you can see by his reaction what he thought:
With all of that said, Canberra is still colder though! The locals are used to it I presume. I was there for a dinner last month with our Canberran Commanders & Eldertonians at the National Press Club. Considering it is and was election season I was disappointed not to see one celebrity politician there. The dinner was sold out and awesome (thanks team), where we talked 12 Command and 14 Western Ridge Shiraz, but Canberra itself was super quiet. All of the pollies were obviously out of the place trying to rescue their jobs for the next term.
The other cracker since my last blog was our Red & Ribs day at Elderton. Here’s a massive tip: Do yourself an absolute favour and put it in your diary now for the Friday before the June Queen’s Birthday Weekend. It sold out in record time this year and it was so much fun. If unsure, it couples more than adequate quantities of our top wines with Elli Beer’s delicious pulled pork sliders and ribs. So if you are teetotalling vego it will not work for you unfortunately. Even Darren ‘Boof’ Lehmann made a cameo appearance. I have taken fashion cues from his haircut as you can see.
HOWEVER, if you decide to go to one of the local pubs after R&R, you will end up looking like the 2 of these great customers from the east coast, who will remain nameless for the purposes of this blog.
Cheers, Cam
