The Elderton Wines Blog

| NEW RELEASE | 2016 Ode to Lorraine

26 November 2019

This wine is a hidden gem in the Elderton wine range – a blend of the finest barrels of each of the Elderton Nuriootpa vineyard varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Merlot. Like a great Ode, this is an expressive mix of three great varietals, which are blended to achieve greatness. Cabernet gives formality and structure, Shiraz offers personality and exuberance and Merlot presents friendliness and seductiveness. Cameron and Allister believe that these are all the traits of a great wine and an amazing person.

We’re excited to let you know that the 2016 vintage is now available for you to pop into your wine rack/cellar.

Reviews

Sophisticated winemaking weaves the three varieties into a medium-bodied palate perfectly framed by oak and fine, ripe tannins. On an equilibrium right now, which it will, of course, hold for years to come.
95 Points – Halliday Wine Companion 2020

This is a super rich and ripe, red-fruited style that has very slinky and long plum flavors, delivered on smooth-honed tannins. A blend of cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and merlot. Drink or hold. Should drink well for a decade or more.
