The Elderton Wines Blog

Elite wines reviewed by The Wine Advocate

Last month Allister travelled around the USA showing our wines to consumers and doing tastings with the great retailers who stock our wines across the States. While in New York he met with Joe Czerwinski from The Wine Advocate (Robert Parker’s) to talk to him about our current wines and preview some upcoming releases.

We are pleased to share with you Joe’s reviews of our Elite wines. Read on below, and you can also download the reviews with this handy A4 reference page!

2016 ELDERTON FIFTEEN SHIRAZ

2016 Elderton Fifteen Shiraz

97 points
The Wine Advocate – 12 June 2019

The top Shiraz in the lineup is the 2016 Fifteen Shiraz, a hefty mouthful of licorice and mint-scented Shiraz. From vines planted in 1915, it’s full-bodied, intensely structured and almost painful in intensity, yet the tannins are ripe, the alcohol levels are not out of hand (15%) and the oak has blended into the fabric of the fruit. With hints of grilled meat, dark fruit and mocha notes on the long finish, this wine should age effortlessly for up to two decades.

Purchase the 2016 Fifteen Shiraz on our website – $350 per bottle or $1050 in a wooden three-pack. Read more about the Fifteen Shiraz.

2015 COMMAND SHIRAZ

Barossa Winery - Elderton Command Shiraz 2015

94 points
The Wine Advocate – 12 June 2019

The 2015 Command Single Vineyard Shiraz fits the mold of a big, bold, Barossa Shiraz. Vanilla and baking spices accent blackberry and mulberry fruit on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is ripe and creamy, supple and richly concentrated through the long, soft finish.

2015 Command Shiraz available on our website – $120 per bottle (RRP $140). Read more about the Command Shiraz.

2016 ASHMEAD CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Barossa Wineries - Elderton Wines Ashmead Cabernet 2016

94 points
The Wine Advocate – 12 June 2019

The 2016 Ashmead Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon features gently herbal notes of bay leaf and sage accenting deep cassis fruit. From a top-notch vintage for Barossa Cabernet, it’s medium to full-bodied, with a structure of fine-grained tannins and varietal restraint, a smooth, streamlined feel and a lingering finish.

2016 Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon available on our website – $100 per bottle (RRP $120). Read more about the Ashmead Cabernet Sauvignon.
